Axial Interventions

Pulau Brani is an island off the coast of the Singapore, a former port terminal. It is slated to undergo redevelopment in the future, as a part of the Sentosa-Brani Masterplan.
Axial interventions reimagines the revitalization of Brani Island, from a renowned shipping terminal into an expanded waterfront of Singapore's central business district. Taking inspiration both from the natural wind path that cuts across the island and from the existing ecological corridor, two axes are formed which intersect aptly at the centre of the island. Wind tunnels are carved to create naturally ventilated corridors throughout the entire island, splitting the entire island into slices of land that facilitates this windflow.
Futhermore, two artificial islands are created to bridge and connect the green areas of Mount Henderson, Pulau Brani and Mount Serapong, enhancing the green corridor and encouraging wildlife to repopulate the island again. Development of an extended central business area on the east side for easy access to Keppel Bay while residential homes are constructed on the west. Cycling paths and natural greenery populate the entire island, reclaiming Pulau Brani from its shipyard roots, reinjecting life and wildlife back into the island, creating a space where both work and living can coexist. This reimagined landscape of Brani Island repositions itself as an important location within Singapore's growing nation, catering to both the urban and nature itself, harmoniously intersecting at Singapore's Greater Southern Waterfront.
